Saint Swithins Church - Parish of Walcot

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (TNIV)

We are thrilled that you are considering getting married in church, and would be delighted to discuss with you about getting married at St Swithin’s. Marriage is a big step but we know too how special marriage is as one of God’s great gifts to us. St Swithin’s is a beautiful space in which to hold your wedding service, and we will make sure that it is a memorable occasion for you, and your family and friends. We also have beautiful reception facilities available for hire for after the wedding service.

Once you’ve popped the question, an early step in planning your wedding day is to contact one of the clergy team who will be happy to meet with you. Part of that conversation will be to discuss a possible date for your wedding, as well as some of the legal and financial requirements of getting married in church. You may also like to consider together how you can best explore and prepare for your lifetime of marriage before the big day.
